What type of bike do I need?
This course is designed and targeted towards large Adventure style bikes eg. BMW GS series, KTM Adventure series and the like and is open to any brand. This is not a “dirt bike” style course. If you are unsure if your bike is suitable, please contact us. Bikes must be registered in Australia and be in a Roadworthy condition.

Do I need a licence?
You must be fully licenced to operate the size/type of motorcycle you will be riding. Licences must be able to be produced if requested by Quandary or any Law Enforcement Officer. Licences should be carried at all times.

What tyres do I need?
At minimum, dual sport tyres must be fitted. Road tyres will not be permitted. Tyres must be in good condition and road worthy (adequate tread depth). Knobby style tyres are recommended but not essential.

Do I need previous experience?
No previous off road experience is required for the “Introductory” course. This course is conducted in a closed, controlled environment and will teach you the skills required to manage a dual sport bike off road.

The “Intermediate” course requires some level of experience however it is suitable for confident beginners through to experienced riders.

What clothing should I wear?
Adventure or dual sport style textile riding gear is recommended. Boots must give adequate ankle support should be Adventure style or motocross style. Riding gear should have knee and elbow protection. Goggles may be required if it is dry and dusty.

Should I have a hydration pack?
Riding and handling a big adventure bike off road is hot work. You must have some sort of hydration device such as a camel back or similar. If you do not have one of these you must ensure that you remain hydrated during the day by stopping regularly to consume water. 

Are food and drinks available?
Introductory – We supply morning tea including tea, coffee and water.
Intermediate – We supply morning tea and lunch including tea, coffee and water.
If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us.

How difficult are the courses?
The “Introductory” course is targeted at those who have very little or no Adventure bike or off road experience. You will learn the skills to confidently manoeuver your bike, clutch and brake control, bike setup body position and much more.

The “Intermediate” course is designed for beginner riders with some off road experience through to experienced riders as the course content is altered to suit the riders’ skill level. All level of riders will benefit from the “Intermediate” course through acquiring new skills, reinforcing skills or squashing bad habits.

How many people are on the course?
The “Introductory” course is limited to 4 participants and the “Intermediate” course limited to 6 participants. This allows for a high level of feedback to be provided to each rider ensuring they get to most out of the course.

Panniers
Luggage should be removed for the training. Ensure that your luggage can be removed when you arrive at the training ground.
